WHAT IS A GLOW PEEL?
What was formally known as the Chemical Peel, the new and improved, Glow Peel, is just that!
Somehow we all have that vision of Samantha from Sex and The City. You know the one, where she gets a chemical peel right before a big event and she is nearly unrecognizable!! Her face so red and sensitive looking.
Well it is time to debunk this myth! Lets get our GLOW on ladies!
So what exactly is a Glow Peel?
Our Glow Peel is designed and formulated by AlumierMD. A professional skincare line that we trust and carry here at Lionsgate Laser Clinic. The product itself is a light, brightening resurfacing solution that improves the signs of aging and hyperpigmintation with minimal downtime.
Three main ingredients make up the science behind the Glow Peel. Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid and Resorcinol. These ingredients, when combined, create a multipurpose resurfacing solution that exfoliates dead skin cells and stimulates skin renewal.
Lactic Acid: Naturally found in milk and part of the hydroxy acid family, lactic acid is biosynthesized for cosmetic formulations. It exfoliates dead skin cells and enhances skin renewal to firm and strengthen skin, which improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Best Part!!! Cleopatra was known to bathe her entire body in lactic acid to keep her looking as young as possible.
Salicylic Acid: Known as a beta hydroxy acid, salicylic acid is an exfoliate with soothing properties. It is oil-soluble, allowing it to penetrate into pores to effectively exfoliate dead skin cells and control acne pimples.
Resorcinol: A peeling agent that works by breaking down, rough scaly or hardened skin. Resorcinol is also an antiseptic and disinfectant to help fight skin infections.
What Can You Expect After A Glow Peel?
During the treatment itself, it is quite normal to experience a slight itching or tingling sensation. This is the active ingredients getting to work and eating up all those dead skin cells.
For the first 24 hours after your peel you are to stay away from heat, water or sweating. But after this your life goes back to normal! You may experience mild sensitivity for up to four days and mild peeling (if any) on the forehead, nose and chin.
But fear not!! These are all good signs that the peel is working and reversing the damage that was previously caused. We also send you home with after care products to help quicken and ease your healing time. Within five days you are starting to really see and feel the amazing results of your peel.
How Often Should You Be Doing A Glow Peel?
Though you will see results after the first treatment, if you are targeting a certain problem area or spot it is recommended to do a series of peels. One a month for three months and then easily maintained through the seasons.
We are always looking for ways to improve your skins overall tone and texture! If you ever have any questions regarding your skin concerns, please drop us a line, email, text or comment and we would love to give you the skin you have always dreamed of!
